Abstract

This research elaborates on the global issue of Femicide in El Salvador with the contribution of Equal Measures 2030 (EM2030) in responding to the SDGs agenda which will end in the next 10 years. This phenomenon indicates that "culture of violence" can be massively accepted and becomes an obstacle in achieving gender equality as the heart of the SDGs. EM2030 here is to answered the lack of gender data by developing the SDGs Gender Index in 6 target country for the EM2030 program including El Salvador. Thus, this research will describe the Galtung Violence Trilogy concept to analyze the phenomenon of femicide in El Salvador which is strengthened by the NGO Advocacy concept in describing the EM2030 process affecting at the global, regional, national and grassroot levels through the NIP (National Influence Partner), Plan International El Salvador. The findings of this study indicate that the efforts made by EM2030 in developing the SDGs Gender Index as a guideline and benchmark for advocates, organizations, policy makers and civil society in El Salvador have helped reduce the number of femicide cases while contributing to the achievement of SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reducing Inequality), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
